Where is your journey taking you?

Are your habits of today a true reflection of where you want to be as your future self?

Where do you want to see yourself this time next month? In a year? In 5 years?

Just like anything worth doing, there is always hard work to be put in, but you have to be willing to start. This takes a humility and a vulnerability that we often do not want to experience or face.

Being willing to start means that you care enough about your goals and where you want to be that you will make the decision to intentionally choose change. Yes, it’s going to be hard. Yes, it’s going to make you uncomfortable. But think about this….how uncomfortable is the alternative? How hard is knowing that you will not only stay the same if you don’t make a change, but you will ultimately be worse off than you are now. Are you really ok with that? Or are you ready and CONVINCED that it is time to engage your future??

Choose your hard. Making good choices is hard. Living with the consequences of your bad habits is also hard.

Sort of like the old saying goes…the days are long, but the years are short. Some days feel long and so very hard when we are pushing through, whether that be at our jobs, raising kids, dealing with family issues or choosing habits that are good for us but not fun in the moment. The things that are worth doing many times do not feel GOOD, they don’t bring us pleasure or relaxation. But time passes whether we use it well or not. Very quickly you will be at a point looking back over the last few years, asking yourself if you used your time well—did you stay committed to your job, invest in your kids, diligently pour into your difficult family relationships? Did you develop habits that lead to a strong body, healthy weight, clear mind and healthy emotional state? Did you invest in your own health and wellness? Or did you waste a few more years on an overall meaningless pursuit of empty and unfulfilling comfort levels just to cope?

It all starts with a vision of where you are headed. The next part is difficult but also simple. Take that first step. Start today. You can do this. One thought, one habit, one day at a time. Don’t be hard on yourself if you miss the mark. Start again. And do that one new thing until it becomes more natural. You can’t altar everything today, or even this year. But let’s just begin. We can journey together.
